What kind of ambulance-chasing law firm would stoop this low to send out these kinds of letters? If this insane neighbor can afford a renovated new home in Arlington, surely, they can afford window treatments. I know, first world problems — too much time and money on their hands. https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2024/01/uncovered-windows-curtains-wealthy-neighborhoods/677204/I op
It's probably a fake letter because lawyers don't press criminal charges.
This seems likely. An actual attorney would be easy to look up on your bar's website. If you do find something, I agree that writing back requesting specific citations is fair. If you don't, write back that you will consider further communications harassment and cc the neighbors so they're officially notified. Then consider filing a peace order to keep your crazy neighbors away from you if they don't take the hint. Definitely get a doorbell cam in case they come a knockin', and do NOT record the child's window (agree with the pp that says the kiddie pron angle isn't great for your case). Call the non-emergency police line and have them come out and discuss the matter with you. They will also likely be able to tell the neighbors that you don't want communication and they should leave you alone. Get a copy of the incident report number so you have another paper trail showing you drew the boundary (because people like this tend to cross them). I'd also out them on nextdoor, especially if that atty letter turns out to be fake, but I'm petty.
I think all of this is good advice except do not post on NextDoor or Facebook. 1. Determine if it's a real lawyer 2. Contact the non-emergency police line to ask if there is anything you can do 3. If you notice a camera on their house facing outwards, you can send them a similar letter
