Same for my in-laws. They call themselves "small-c conservatives." They attend church and are pro marriage and military. Always stand for the Pledge and National Anthem, even in their living room. They're also in favor of universal healthcare, staying out of people's personal business, and think that power confers responsibility. Above all, they hate amoral and stupid people and think they shouldn't be in charge. They exist. I think they're just as befuddled as the rest of us. [/quote]

What does pro-marriage and military mean.  I know no one who is anti-marriage or anti military.  What they are against is someone else defining who should be able marry short of children to adults.  What they are against is the military having no space for all who wish to serve and not understanding that they serve the balance of diplomacy and defense.  And also that they have an unlimited budget or are beyond questioning in comparison to other agencies.

Why do conservatives think they are the ones who have rights to religion, family, and patriotism?  Maybe if we got rid of this conservative, liberal, progressive nonsense and let government focus on actual problems and solutions things would actually be better.[/quote]
