Schools in Northern Virginia will need to stop pushing the current DEI indoctrination, and other racist nonsense, or risk losing all federal funding. No more using the false 1619 Project; no more Ibram X. Kendi “textbooks,” etc.
In order to stop they would have had to start.
Legit first sentence on the ACPS homepage: "ACPS places racial equity at the center of everything that we do as a school division." Naw, nothing to see here. SMH https://www.acps.k12.va.us
So you are for racial inequity? Got it.
Democrats are defining "equity" as "equal outcomes" among groups. So yes, people are against equity because you can't FORCE equal outcomes. I have several children and I couldn't FORCE them all to have the exact same grades, social experience or skill/achievement on the soccer field etc., and they have the same parenting, food quality, and home environment. All I could do was provide them equality/fairness-- same high-quality food, teaching each to read, attention, good clothing/shoes, adequate sleep etc. etc. If parents can't force equal outcomes among their own children, having so much control over their environments, how is a government supposed to achieve equal outcomes among racial groups? How do we have it so Asians, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics have the exact same percentages of soccer goalies, flute players, choral soloists, football captains, class presidents, AP Chemistry enrollees, etc. Not to mention that outcomes vary not only by racial group, but defining them can be tricky (are we counting the kid with the black mom and white dad as black? the kid with the Chinese dad and white mom as white?) then if you dig in further you will find variations among ethnicities. Ever looked up the wealth of differing Asian groups? Americans of Japanese heritage fare differently than those from Mongolia. Cubans are different than Columbians. Both of those have people among them who are 'black" as well as those who have that Native american/mestizo phentoype. How productive is it to categorize everyone as accurately as possible, put them in their boxes and then try to force one box to be the same as the next? The schools need to provide quality teachers, equal facilities, fair discipline (no suspending an Asian kid Monday for an infraction that just got a Hispanic kid a talking to the previous Friday. No letting the teacher's favorite get away with murder while coming down on like a ton of bricks on another kid) etc. for all the children. The rest is up to the kids and the parents.
