No, it’s time to make room for more diversity of thought in the Democratic Party so people who aren’t wanting to go whole hog on super lefty talking points feel welcome.
Pretty sure it wasn't "super lefty talking points" that thought it was wise to nominate 78 year old Joe Biden in 2020. Take Biden out of the 2020 equation and replace him with a normal candidate and there is no Trump second term and all of this talking point and messaging hullabaloo wouldn't be necessary.
Yes, Biden's decision to run for reelection is the original sin that got us into this mess and a new Trump presidency. If 83 year old Biden had remained a one term president - as he promised - we would have had a competitive primary process and a candidate that would have easily beaten Trump. Third parties don't work in a two party system. At best, they are spoilers. And realistically, a viable third party can only succeed as a vehicle for charismatic billionaires, which we really don't need any more of. Democrats made a terrible choice by supporting a gerontocracy. The real lesson is that everyone at the DNC needs to be banished from politics forever and Democrats need to commit to free and fair primaries always, especially when the incumbent is feeble and old and unfit for office. This entire disaster lies at the feet of the Democratic establishment. A third party is a useless waste of time. Democrats just need to try a little democracy next time.
Agree 100%! A simpler solution to avoiding the 2024 debacle would have been not nominating/electing a 78 year old 1st term POTUS to begin with. There is no such thing as a successful ending when you elect a 78 year old 1st term POTUS. Trump is a 78 year old 2nd term POTUS and I can guarantee you a not so happy ending with his approval ratings soon dropping to the Trump/Biden norm of 40%.
