That message was completely mental. Anticipating limited visibility? Telling buses to drive slowly? That's basically admitting in advance that they know conditions could be dangerous. Did their lawyers approve that? Probably everything will be fine but this is totally out of line with every other school system in the area and OPM so if even one minor thing happens, they are going to be out on an island and strung up for regional ridicule. All risk for no reward.

Conditions that cause you drive below the speed limit are not necessarily dangerous. That's the point of driving below the speed limit.

This has nothing to do with my driving, but to your point of driving below the speed limit, that only controls for you and not all the idiots around you who do not do so (and around here there are many). But this mainly has to do with MCPS sending out messages talking about limited visibility and buses driving slowly in a legal climate where you have to put labels on a hair dryer that it shouldn't be used in the shower. There is a reason these have previously been more carefully worded, because the more blather and shooting from the hip you do, the more rope you give to hang yourself if something happens. It will probably turn out just fine, but this is adding to my concerns about processes and consistency from the new regime and only thinking things 85% of the way through before spouting off.
