I got the ATS result about an hour ago... now to figure out whether to take it or not. Outside of DCUM where else is a good spot to read reviews/gather opinions from others who have gone through the option schools?
If you got into ATS, take it. If you don’t like it, you can always transfer back to your neighborhood school.
We all know she’s going to take it. She just wants to brag and get attention for a non achievement.
You can’t be serious in thinking this? We got a spot by chance and now we have two weeks to decide and want more details on where I will send my kid to school - how in any way is that bragging?
Absolutely. If you are not excited about this but rather crowdsourcing this "decision" give up the spot to somebody who will cherish it.
Take your time. I don’t know why people fight over this mediocre public elementary. What makes it mediocre, you ask? While it may have good test scores while the kids are in elementary, there’s is no measurable difference in how ATS students perform when they get to middle school. Just as “meh” as the others. If you’re in SA, take it. If you’re in NA and districted for one of the higher-performing schools, I don’t know if I would. The bus comes REALLY early for ATS, and having your kid’s friends spread all over the county is a real downside. Going to school with all of your neighborhood buddies is better.
Disagree. Had significant remediation for kid who went to ATS for dyslexia and had to pay for it for the child who didn't go to ATS. (went to NA school with something like 4% FRL.) Also, my kid's friend group is still close and international which is really cool.
I’m driving all over the county for play dates. Kinda jealous of my neighbors who only have to walk down the street. 😆
Probably outing myself here but I hate play dates south of 395. I can never seem to follow the spaghetti noodle directions correctly. Clearly, I didn't go to ATS.
