https://www.fcps.edu/news/tjhsst-student-named-finalist-2025-regeneron-science-talent-search Eight Top 300 finalists this year as opposed to seven last year. But I thought that the new admissions process was leaving top talent behind? No other FCPS school produced a top 300 finalist this year...
That really doesn’t prove anything right?
It proves that a growing number of students are competing for one of the nation’s top high school science prizes. It puts a pretty sizeable dent into the narrative that TJ is somehow collapsing under the weight of the new admissions process.
Not really, when the only way to show diversity is by lowering standards and loading up the class with minimum math students, and facilitating remedial classes for them. Externally, the decline is visible with the drop in SOL scores and ranking from 1st to 14th and further expected.
