These are almost all perfectly able-bodied individuals, able to stand for hours outdoors in all weather conditions.  And, as others have noted, there are many, many instances of evidence that the vast majority are in fact professional beggars panhandling in a deliberate and organized manner, supported by employers who provide them with daily transportation or who have  and can afford to drive their own vehicles to "work" every day.

A few are patently mentally ill and or homeless, but most do not appear to fall into those categories.  Try giving the beggars food or toiletries; they discard them immediately.  They want money only.  And, for those who need food or shelter, there are social services available which do not require accosting passersby for money with which to buy alcohol or drugs.  [/quote]
