What is this more eyes stuff? If you're living on a hope and a prayer that your kid is going to have a Rudy Ruettiger movie scenario, the odds are way against you. Its not how many eyes see the kid, it's the kid doing the right things and the right eyes and ears will know.
I have a lesser point (to the points already made about trying to make sure your kid is playing for a coach that believes in you), but it is a concrete example and it doesn't just apply to just ASA. A lot of clubs deal with it happening to their top teams and doing the right thing developing kids. There is one ASA age group (it is not an age group my DS is associated with, but I don't want to name the age) that lost a couple of their best players (developed by ASA) to DCU a few years ago. This team was once dominating, but they haven't been the same since, but they are still doing fine IMO. When scouts look at this team, are they thinking "meh" or rather is there anyone we missed? Is there anyone else they developed? All the clubs in the area have to deal with this, not just ASA. You can't lose your top players and not experience a setback on the W-L record, but yet it is a good thing that it happened.
