OP here with an update. So I emailed the teacher on Tuesday inquiring about my kid’s grade. The teacher then approaches my kid first thing during class on Wednesday to state they made a grading error and would change my kid’s grade. It is now Friday and the grade has not been updated in the system nor have I received a response to my email! How long would you expect it to take for a teacher to change a grade? Plus, I’m p!ssed that the teacher couldn’t be bothered to respond to my email.
You are really missing the boat here and are over involved. Your kid should be advocating for themself and talking to the teacher. Coach your kid if they are not good at it. This is why the teacher is approaching your child and not emailing you back. Part of what middle school is for is for you to back off and your kid to advocate for themselves. If they try and fail, then maybe you step in. But this is a clear case of your kid could have done this. Parenting fail on your part.
