OP here, agree - just looking for some inspiration at any budget and how to make dollars work harder especially for trips with a family of 4. Helpful to get a sense of the big picture - meaning if the family is taking 1 huge trip just once in the whole year for 20k, or several small trips. Like I mentioned in the initial post, we haven't had a year like this where much of our travel isn't already set based on other obligations. [/quote]

Family of 4 flying coach can do a week-ish  in Paris at a reasonable cost per person.  Let's say $400/night for AirBnB...$2,800. And maybe $6K for airfares for 4 (ours were $1200-ish for late March 2023).  You can do local grocery shopping for similar price to home.  We enjoyed modest treats like riding the Batobus on the Seine, the free history museum in the Marais, seeing the Eiffel Tower do its hourly sparkle nightime routine, etc.[/quote]
