Given the suspected ages of OP's elderly they probably have one of the few remaining really good plans. But even then it doesn't necessarily cover the full daily amount and generally only covers for X # of years. LTC pays if the insured meets the criteria laid out when the policy was purchased. I think there are 5 things and the person has to meet 4 of them?? It doesn't sound as if OP's people are close to that point yet. [/quote] Yes, it is a really good plan at least the one the older spouse has. It was used a decade ago after a serious illness. We are trying to get them in a CCRC before his health declines again. I suspect he will need more care within 18 months[/quote]
