I have been following Washington for a long time, and the Supreme Court is probably the one branch of government that does NOT feel corrupt. The attacks on Thomas and the other justices mentioned on this thread seem partisan and transparent.
Spoken like someone who has NO idea what the rules, expectations, and ethics are for government employees. When my husband was a fed, he had a position that gave him a government car to use for the entire term of a particular job. He told them to take it back, he didn’t want it, that all it could do was get him into trouble - because it comes with so many rules, it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
Really? Then tell me this. Are all the justices unethical, or only the conservative ones?
Only the ones who’ve accepted gifts and bribes or behaved unethically, obviously.
Yes, and in your opinion, which justice(s) are those?
Look Thomas put the word out that he was feeling poor and might retire and a bunch of right wing activists recruited plutocrats to shovel money at him and his family so he could live well beyond his means while keeping his seat on the Supreme Court and voting with the right wing bloc. There is just nothing like that in the history of the court or the country.
That’s what I thought. Thanks for at least being honest.
Yes I am an honest federal employee unlike Thomas. I mean if you want debate other examples—- on both sides of the aisle— we can, or if you want to argue that there is precedent for what Thomas has done in having his entire lifestyle subsidized by right wing plutocrats we can debate that.
