The point that many are missing is that parents don’t know things are missing or students are not doing well unless grades are entered.  Parents are trying to be engaged and help students become better a time management and executive skills.  If teachers are grading things or noting them as missing right before interims or right before end of quarter then no one has time to improve or change tactics.

6th-9th grade is when kids should really be working on these skills buts it’s really hard to get right when the whole process is like the Wild West.  And it’s made worse when MS kids are getting quizzes out of 3,4,5 points that are essentially either A or F, or A,C,F. [/quote]

I usually go through the pile and put zeroes in immediately (the day the work is due) so parents and students are aware of the missing assignment. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always get done. It takes time to determine which students out of 150 didn’t submit that day. Perhaps it’s only 10 minutes of work, but I only get about 25 minutes a day at my desk. I also need that time to update Canvas, answer emails, attend meetings, prepare accommodations, etc. [/quote]
