You have no idea if they will be recruited or if an injury will stop the recruiting process at the wrong time. Those costs are because the kid loves the sport. A part of their social life is there -- friends. And it is something to do to stay fit. Most of the top recruited athletes are doing mutiple club sports before HS. Would they like to play in college someday -- sure but you never ever know how that will pan out so you cannot really add these costs and say this was for that.[/quote]
