According to Reddit sounds like, for the first time in numerous years, William and Mary will not be releasing ED1 results during the first week of December. Does this scream increase in applications or something else?
Sounds normal to me.
I mean it's not if even their website is wrong about when they're supposed to drop
They updated early December to mid-December on IG, which is how they communicate admissions info. So stop expecting early December. My kid has a 12/8 release for Class of 2026. It’s the 9th. I ‘m sure they will out by Friday. Lots of reasons they could be delayed 3-4 days. Including an unusually large # of apps. Under the my kid has a friend working in admissions 3rd hand gossip, the number of ED apps was unexpectedly high. Look— the secret is out. The stats of incoming students are identical to UVAs. And there are fewer seats at WM. Top kids are now EDing WM or UVA if they have an instate budget. WM is a niche school, but increasingly hard to get into. And ED is perceived as giving you an edge at WM. Kids who really want WM for the public price, small size, LAC feel, etc. know they need to apply ED. It’s not a surprise the ED #s are going up every year. If they have even one AO out on medical leave or the high number of apps gossip is real, it’s going to take a few extra days. And their student interns are in finals and not available. I know it’s hard. BTDT, but getting so worked up about a delay of a few days doesn’t help you. And more importantly, it doesn’t help your kid. Plus— if they are either down an AO or have more apps than expected, then you can have it fast or you can have it right. Since there will be more Nos than Yeses— which do you want— fast or right? Remember well publicized incidents of other colleges over the years sending out the wrong letters to the wrong kids and having to rescind acceptances? That’s what fast gets you. Today you want fast. Long term, you want right.
That's the point I was making, this is unusual and is obviously a sign of something (probably a lot more applications).
