UVA separate but then Virginia U - GMU campus, VAU - Longwood campus etc.[/quote] all of the public universities in NC are in the UNC system even if they aren’t named as such and many have minimal name recognition or high status. Most people outside of NC have never heard of UNC Pembroke or Elizabeth City State. Everyone in Texas does get to go to UT Austin, everyone In Florida doesn’t get to go to UF or FSU, and everyone in Georgia doesn’t get to go to UGA, it is what it is. Changing the way the Virginia universities are organized would just end up being a super expensive Reorganization and renaming that would probably end up costing millions for no reason. [/quote]
