I just went to check her twitter and saw she posted this. Is it true? I don’t know CA policies but will search in a bit. An extra dollar per gallon is too much for many families. “ Hey, everyone who was concerned with a dictatorship, you’ll be interested in Newsom’s moves. He’s making whatever decisions he wants, with no CA voter input. He plans on slapping almost a dollar per gallon on our already sky-high gas prices, and he’s talking about restricting use and/or banning our classic cars, etc. This is all because he has no idea how to make good on his ridiculous “promise” to make CA “emission-free by 2035.” So, he’s trying to force it on us all. He has also lost billions of our tax dollars through fraud and waste. We have some of the highest state income tax, so his fiscal irresponsibility is especially heinous. He is a complete disaster.”
Seems like the plan is to change emissions rules which could increase prices up to an additional $.65 per gallon. So not quite a dollar, but still significant on top of already much higher than average costs. They pay over $4 per gallon now without the increase. https://contracosta.news/2024/11/09/california-gas-prices-set-to-increase-after-carb-vote/ The classic car thing seems to be something they’re researching, but it’s not a done deal. https://theautowire.com/2024/11/01/report-california-looking-to-restrict-travel-for-classic-cars
