FYI  - Atheists don't know whether or not there is a God -- but they don't believe in one.  that is, they are Not Theists, i.e., A-theist.  Like people who are asymptomatic do not have symptoms.

Most atheists, if they think about it, are agnostic atheists: they don't know and they don't believe.

"Agnostic" is perceived as a softer stance on religion, suggesting that the person emphasizes the not knowing over not believing.  Personally, I think "agnostic" is ofter used by people who don't know that atheist means not believing in God.

Of course no one knows -- just like no one really knows if there are fairies - like god, they are invisible.  But adults generally don't believe in them.[/quote]
