I think it's really hard to gauge what can happen with acceptance rates going down annually at many schools. My daughter's favorite safety went from 76% acceptance last year to 64%. She falls in the range but you also see super high applicant kids applying to these schools when they never used to before bc the falling acceptance rates are trickling down. So when that happens, is she still within range? It's so unpredictable and by applying to a lot of schools, I'm hoping it will at least give her a few options, especially if she only gets into a couple targets and no reaches. Some schools we haven't even visited yet, so she doesn't even know if she'd even be happy there. She just applied bc they met the criteria she was looking for and we will visit if she gets accepted. She wants to have options academically and socially, and I want options financially. I truly envy the kids who are well within or above range at a top choice school that fits their budget; I wish that were the case for her but it's just not.  [/quote]
