HP Elite and some other training centers do not take rec players.
Then the coaches suck. Any coach that “only coaches elite athletes” is advertising that they have zero skills or ability to develop, and can only “fine tune.” Fine tuning youth athletes is a joke. The coaches must be absolute trash.
The reason HP doesn't take certain rec players without a reference from the coaching staff is because they wouldn't be able to do the drills during the training sessions. They don't have time to hold kid's hands. If a kid who can't play well goes in there all it will do is destroy their confidence seeing 30-40 other kids destroy them.
You realize this proves the point that the coaches are trash right? They’re just setting up drills and letting kids run through them. They’re not adding value beyond facility and drill choices. “Fine tuning” is probably too generous.
So the coaches are trash if they run high level clinics for experienced players and don’t want to waste time on kids with a skill level far below the intended range of the clinic? Ok, got it.
First, HP does have younger age group clinics. But yes, you do get how these clinics work right? These are fantastic for touches. Fantastic for reps. But you aren’t getting coaching at these. In fact, most of the coaches don’t have experience taking individual players through the phases of development, and to pretend that “kid vs come” or “kid vs target” or some other drilling is coaching or development is insane. The coaches at HP (and other programs) have no investment in the outcome, and no way to monitor the progress outside of the gym…And some of those coaches are or were good coaches, but programs like that are a waste of their talent and their talent atrophies. My DC does a drill program too. It has its place! But it’s not coaching. Its facilitation.
You’re now arguing against something that the PP didn’t ever claim. Nice straw man.
