Yea it is legal for the owner of a house to know the names and birth dates of the adults living in it. For background checks, credit checks, occupancy limits, etc.
No, it is not. Sharing the name violtes fair housing. The LL can know the credit score and income verification but they can not know the names.
I’m a lawyer who’s been working with HUD for over 25 years. You are incorrect, and I’m thinking you’re a troll because your claim is so ridiculous. Provide the federal code citation and case law to back up your nonsense.
I'm an attorney (much higher than a 'lawyer') and you are uneducated. Go retake the bar and lose your license now. Go to westlaw and search on Georgia Vs, Guetirrez. You are a moron.
Good for you. I’ve been barred for 25+ years. Show me the reg that says it is prohibited to require the name of a person applying to rent. And then give the citation for your case, which above appears to be criminal. Can someone sue under the fair housing act and claim that a landlord refuses to lease to applicants that he/she believe belong to a protected classification based solely on a name (that name sounds Mexican, that name sounds Islamic, that name sounds Jewish)? Sure, a claim like that can be made, and if the evidence shows that then that landlord is liable. But there is no regulation that makes the requirement of a name on a rental application. I’m glad that you are an attorney. Now act like a grown up.
