Most at-large council members live in Takoma Park or Silver Spring. Very few live upcounty, just those who represent those districts. In general, I think upcounty gets the short end of the stick when it comes to any council initiatives, for example transportation planning -- things are just more spread out up there, and there's no Metro station. They seem to forget that.
There only are four at-large councilmembers, and zero of them (0 out of 4, or 0%) live in Takoma Park. I don't think anybody has forgotten where the Metro stations are. Maybe you have forgotten about the other transit options that exist, and are used by people, in the upcounty.
Will Jawando lives in TKPK - or at least the did. And there are council people in Rockville and Gaithersburg, right?
Jawando lives in Silver Spring. And I still don't understand the point of this line of inquiry. Are we really suggesting that elected officials should not have a vote on things that don't affect their specific home? Should we disband the state and federal Congress? Should Rockville councilmembers not get a vote on a particular development application if it is not planned for their particular neighborhood?
