Haha. Thank you! Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I should have definitely been clearer in my post. DD is an ovo-lacto vegetarian, meaning that she eats eggs and dairy and honey, but she does not eat chicken, pork, beef, fish, shrimp, etc. Given that the "normal" dietary guidelines from reputable medical sources recommend 1-2 eggs per day, assuming a "typical" American diet, I made the assumption that perhaps a vegetarian who does not consume meat might have a different set of recommended dietary guidelines, maybe 2-3 eggs/day. Also, given some research showing that dietary cholesterol from eggs does not seem to impact blood cholesterol levels, I thought the higher egg consumption might also be reasonable. It's somewhat unbelievable that given the popularity of vegetarian diets that it's so hard to find clearer guidelines. The upshot seems to be that dietary guidelines are works in progress.
I have also come to the conclusion that while there are a few smart and well-read and well-informed vegetarians on this board--thank you!--there are a number of not-so-informed ones who are amusingly willing to trumpet their ignorance.[/quote]
