Calc BC in 10th grade? What is the hurry? Granted, my kids are in private and the math track is much slower, but Calculus in 12th is serving most advanced kids just fine. Parents need to chill out. [/quote]

This! No AO expects post BC in schools that do not offer it as a regular path! BC in 12th kids get in to ivies all the time from our private: it is the top math track. It is true that there are a large amount of ivy peers who have post-BC experience but almost all are from super competitive regions of the US. Mine has done just fine, well above means in math, despite “only” having BC in 12th. They started in multivariable just like their peers who had already had it and did better than a few of them after the initial weeks of having to spend more hours on psets since it was all new material. After October the course went well beyond what the peers had seen in their high school multivariable and because they were not expecting it to suddenly be hard many stumbled. My kid was cruising by then.
