I think this is a smart move assume both win. I don’t like either party when they have POTUS and Congress. Things are better (IMO more centrists), when they have to hash it all out and move slower. I also find it interesting when so many people want to oust the MAGA but when you have an R that is not in that collective group, you don’t want him voted in.
Republicans have largely refused to engage in bipartisan negotiations since Obama was elected and they pledged to stymie him at every turn. They finally reached an agreement with the Democrats on a sweeping immigration bill earlier this year, but Trump blew that up at the last minute. Congress has become deadlocked and dysfunctional. Republicans in the House can barely coalesce behind a Speaker because the House Freedom Caucus is too extreme, even for a fair number of Republicans, but it’s loud enough that it can’t be ignored. I can only conclude from your post that you either like the idea of Congress doing nothing or you haven’t been paying attention to Congress. Also, the reason why we don’t want a non-MAGA like Hogan to be voted in is because he said he will caucus with the Republicans, which would give the MAGA-supporting majority within the Republican caucus more power. They are bad for America. We don’t want to arm them with one more foot soldier.
