Strange. My circle of white Americans and various Europeans and Asians don't drink much, and we've had plenty of non-alcoholic parties. It's hard for me to relate to all of you who think you can't have a party without alcohol. OP, maybe you can ask the mother-to-be, as well as a few key guests, what they think.
Are you this reductive and simplistic in all aspects of your life? Repeat after me - it's not that we *can't* have a party without alcohol, it's that it's more enjoyable if one can have a glass or two. For one thing, it makes uptight twits who might be in attendance (ahem, PP) more tolerable.
dp It has been proven that there are no redeeming qualities of drinking alcohol. It is a drug and a depressive drug at that. Calling us 'uptight' just proves our point. If you need a couple of drinks just to function in a social setting you are too dependent on it. And calling us names doesn't change the fact that your body does not need alcohol to survive. It is poison plain and simple. And it is destroying families
No, this has not been proven, because it is incorrect. Many people enjoy themselves more with a glass or two of their favorite tipple. Thus, it has a redeeming quality. Do you honestly think that people throughout the millennia have been imbibing something which they find to have "no redeeming qualities?"
