If your GK is middle school or older, Ed Brown at Academy One Goalkeeping. I wish DS had started with him sooner. He holds training in Germantown, Arlington and Baltimore on the weekends.
What was impressive about Ed Brown to you?
A few things we like. DS has really improved with crosses which is an area he really struggled. I like that Ed will watch your player at tournaments to provide feedback which is helpful. Everything is a flat fee for the year and we come out ahead over the amount of money we spent with other trainers. Finally, he has really improved DS’s confidence and reduced his anxiety about playing keeper.
Perhaps I am projecting a bit, but I am kind of fed up with the complete lack of administrative and business skills that soccer clubs and coaches seem to exhibit. I won’t get into the details of any particular club or person, but you don’t have to read very many posts on this board to believe this is a shared viewpoint. I think the parental money backing this sport brings out the worst and the weakest in clubs and coaches.
I’m not following what this response has to do with the question PP answered regarding specific skills Ed Brown provided to their child. As far as business practices go, I’m still not following. For Ed Brown in particular, years ago we paid him directly for the services rendered. He set a price, we accepted, and he provided specific training to our DD.
