For anyone out there that deleted Instagram, did you find yourself feeling better about yourself and your overall life? Like so many others, I joined instagram way back in 2014 when it was a fairly basic photo sharing platform. Since then, it's gotten worse and worse, and it's at the point now that I find nothing about it positive or inspiring. It seems to be nothing but people showing a small snapshots of events, but curating it to appear is if their lives are perfect. Vacations, new cars, home renovations, this list goes on. I recently read that it's the most toxic social media platform, and I'm really seeing why.
Yes! I started using instagram in 2016 when a boyfriend commented that I needed to get it. I got off it pretty completely in 2023 and have zero regrets. I post maybe twice a year and I look at pictures with the same frequency. Same with Facebook. I have a great life - three beautiful kids, nice house in an expensive area, great job, supportive and successful spouse, etc but I was always comparing myself to everyone and realized that it was unhealthy and toxic. I would randomly get on and spend 30 minutes mindlessly scrolling and at the end I felt depressed. It was like a bad drug. Just delete it from your phone and log yourself out from your personal computer. I rarely think about it now.
