Wondering why so many people who rescue dogs refer to them as rescues for years and years after the adoption. My neighbor rescued an awesome dog about 7 years ago, and she still refers to him as her rescue dog when talking about him in casual conversation. It seems that in the past ten years, no one ever says they adopted a dog any more, it's always "I rescued a dog." I love all dogs, but can't figure out the reason for always having to tell everyone a dog is a rescue.
If you bought your dog from a specific breeder would you stop telling people that you bought the dog from that breeder even if it was years ago? Of course not! So then why can't people refer to their dogs as rescue dogs ( and state the name of the rescue) Btw, all people can adopt dogs, not just progressives. I know some very liberal people who bought their dogs from breeders! I do not judge them just because I can't do it. If I want a specific breed I am going to go to the rescue for that type of dog.
