Thank you PP for the info. Sounds like AP precalc is for on-grade level students who might take AP Precalc AB whereas honors precalc prepares kids for the AB or BC class.
This doesn't make sense, but I can't figure out what word you miswrote. I think "AP Precalc AB" isn't what you meant, but by my guess of "AP Calc AB" doesn't fit either. If that's what you meant, it's still not correct. AP Precalc would prepare for non-AP Calculus with Applications, or a rough time in AP Calc AB. If AP Calc AB will be your last calculus-related class ever, as you aren't expecting to earn a 5 on the exam, so it's just a requirements box checking class, then AP Precalc would probably suffice. Honors Precalc is better prep for STEM than AP Precalc, if offered. If not offered, the school is probably trying to serve two different audiences with one class, meaning one group will be frustrated by useless hard content, and the other frustrated by wasting time on easy or different topic content instead of prep for AP Calc and beyond.
AP Precalc: Path for kids to take AP Calculus AB Honors Precalc: Path for kids to take AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC
