My kids attend DCC middle and high schools, and the bathrooms are open. I've confirmed this with my kids themselves, but I've also been inside their schools at various times in a professional capacity and have not seen a closed bathroom. However, I've been in other MS and HSs in the same capacity and seen closed bathrooms, so it is absolutely happening. There's not a lot of rhyme or reason to it, though. Sometimes the schools with closed bathrooms are the ones you might expect, where the kids have a lot of generational and economic trauma that can lead to "acting out." But in other cases (like BCC and SCMS), they are objectively wealthy schools and I can't figure out if the administration is over-reacting or whether that wealth is fueling destructive behavior.
