I say all that to say...YOU can research alternatives.  Shenandoah National Park is close to DC and has great hikes for kids.  Stop at Apple House for the best Apple butter cinnamon doughnuts, go for a morning hike, go to a ranger program, have a picnic.

The kids will be old enough to go to amusement parks with just your husband soon.  It's on YOU to find things that you love that don't feel gross to you.[/quote]
