I think the parents could have done more, but I can also see how they did not know how much she was involved with and controlling him until it was too late. What can a parent realistically do if their 18 year old son takes someone they do not like to Prom? Especially when they are not dependent on the parents for money due to a Duke basketball scholarship. He apparently wrote the goodbye message to his family email two years ago, right around the time Catilin and he attended prom together. [/quote]
