With an UW gpa of 3.86, your DS may struggle to get into engineering at UMD.  It is a very competitive program.  Will get no merit.  [/quote]

Do you actually know those who didn’t get with similar stats? Because when I am looking at the scattergram for his school he looks safe. I am aware that UMD is very competitive, but it appears that he falls within green. I am assuming that some of those kids went to the Engineering school.[/quote]

You don't know what you don't know. Did you ask counselor? Do you know that the xs are for last 4 only? Our school has last 4 years as bar graphs, but the scattergram didn't match up, and when I emailed,  I found it had 10+ year old data.
And, to reiterate,  I know a kid with similar stats who did not get in.[/quote]
