Yeah, I had a similar thought, also in government.

The whole thing just sounds like a boondoggle. Parents pay these astronomical sums to these schools in order to get a better quality education, a better experience, better contacts whatever. Then on top of their tuition, they are constantly asked for additional money for the school, plus their children will be hit up for more money for the school for the rest of their lives. Some small fraction of all this money goes to pay teachers, but then you have a HoS making somewhere around 1m per year. And the justification for paying this person this much money is that they need it in order to be good at fundraising, which is the main goal of their job. So they are being paid a lot in order to ask people to give the school more money... so they can be paid a lot.

I know Potomac graduates as well as people from most of the major private schools in the area, and I know these schools generally do an above average job of educating students. But you can't help but look at that system and think about how the education piece is sort of beside the point.[/quote]
