LOL. We limit screen time, especially YouTube, but I’ve accepted my kids are going to get exposed to things like this and it’s not new, just delivered in a different, more pervasive format. My youngest (2nd grade) was the first in our house to mention it and she hadn’t seen it, only heard the song. I remember “milk, milk, lemonade”, “spell I cup” and other worse, inappropriate humor starting in early ES, a lot of which I did not understand. Thankful my parents did not make me feel like they were going to punish me for it if I mentioned it at home, rather discussed and set boundaries.
Well now I’m curious what milk, milk, lemonade and spell I cup are
Spell out "I cup." ICUP. I see you pee. Height of elementary school humor.
That’s like nothing at all compared to this skibidee toilet trend. Like comparing kittens to T Rex.
Isn’t it just some turd-looking head that pops out of the toilet and sings stupid song? It’s dumb, but it’s benign. It’s not like it is porn
Right? I don’t understand these over the top reactions. Wait til their kids discover 80085 on the calculator…
I remember watching Ren and Stimpy on Nickelodeon back in the day. It had some stupid gross humor. There’s always going to be some version of this.
I think comments like this completely miss the point. It’s not the toilet aspect or crass humor that bothers us. The whole vibe of the videos are completely psychopathic. That’s what I want my kid to avoid.
Huh? It's a war between two factions, the toilet dudes vs. the camera dudes (and I think the speaker dudes show up at some point). It's a neverending conflict and continually escalates through the episodes. Ongoing violent conflict is kind of fundamental to a lot of media... Autobots vs. Decepticons in the Transformers, etc. The violence in skibidi becomes pretty graphic though after the first few episodes, which for me is why it is not young-kid-appropriate (just like Game of Thrones isn't appropriate, even if you left out all the sex). But "completely psychopathic" is a histrionic description of "graphically violent conflict". But it does also have a lot of humor, and some narrative arcs that are creatively communicated entirely without dialogue, and other redeeming qualities... just too graphically violent for young kids.
