And the neighbor dog has beautiful coloring, so he's not necessarily scary-looking. It's just a scary feeling when a dog you dont know is fast trotting straight to you. That coupled with the reputation of pit-bulls, which I have zero experience with.  I think I never got over that feeling.

You should try not to judge pit bulls.  After all someone could see your poodle's reaction and forever assiciate all poodles with reactive and aggressive behavior.  How fair would that be? Maybe not.  I've been on both sides and when I see it I think "this dog is having a difficult time' not this dog is being difficult.  It is embarrassing for us but it's ok.  Dogs are not robots and sometimes have big feelings.  Just like toddlers![/quote]
