Why does everyone assume that "kids" are illiterate?  Teenagers aren't interested in Michelangelo?  the duomo?  the Medici?  Machiavelli?  Go to Florence.  If they aren't interested now, cool activities will expose them to something new... and hiking around the Tuscan hill country is great![/quote]
