$1.1m poster here. I have a couple of comments:
(1) Based on my degrees and the line of business I am in, I am not a fool.
(2) You are right, you would never know how much money we have based on the cars that we drive and our house, but we are just not into material things. Ironically, we like to travel (coach  :D ).
(3) Maybe one of the reasons that our NW percentile matches our income percentile is because we actually make saving money a priority.[/quote]

Ok.. but what are you going to do with all that money? Serious question. Our financial advisor told us with the wealth we amassed so far and our current trajectory we [i]should[/i] be treating ourselves to business class and nice hotels on our trips. We can afford it without affecting our retirement plans.

Let's say you pass away with $10 million. Where will it go? You can give that sum to your kids and they'll face the same issue evnetually. There's only so much most people can spend it on.

Now, different story if you plan to give it all to charity, and then i's understandable to some degree.[/quote]
