You could try a swim cap made for use with black hair. https://www.amazon.com/SOUL-CAP-XL-Dreadlocks-Extensions/dp/B073FDSFVH/ref=asc_df_B073FDSFVH/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312050278064&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13039362195449638508&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016966&hvtargid=pla-423079752423&psc=1&mcid=3907091814e63f03b69953b22cc5b99c&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=63589537818&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312050278064&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13039362195449638508&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016966&hvtargid=pla-423079752423 There probably is a version of this for children. I own this one. But I use it because I have a ton of very, very thick Asian hair and a larger head. Struggling with a standard swim cap over the years literally gave me a headache and usually they slipped off mid swim
Oh, if you do try this, sizing is critical. I had to order a few sizes. If it's super comfortable, it's probably not snug enough to keep water out. And I'm just a recreational swimmer. This isn’t for competitive situations obviously.
