I'm in the process of divorcing my husband. I accidentally hit someone when I was backing out of a space. I looked and didn't see anyone and the cameras didn't show anyone. Then, the camera cut out and I hit someone. Later, they did a recall for this issue in newer models. I got the runaround at Tesla and finally the 6th person many months later said that I can't rely on the camera to work. Should I try to get Tesla to fix it? Just use insurance? Pay him cash so it doesn't hurt my soon to be XDH's insurance prospects? I don't feel like cameras are a BONUS accessory. It's like randomly the side mirrors and rear-view mirror drop off. Any advice is appreciated, even if it's to give up and accept what I was told. (P.S. I got a new Tesla recently and it doesn't say anywhere not to rely on the camera. It's in small print somewhere that no one will ever read.)
Seriously? This is the equivalent of McDonalds telling people that coffee is hot or putting a suffocation warning on a plastic bag. Shockingly everyone used to drive without any cameras at all and we all had to use these things called our eyeballs.
Unfortunately, some cars are being built with such poor visibility that the drivers are required to rely on their cameras. Tesla is not one of those, however.
BS. Manufacturers aren't going to design and build a car where camera reliance is a necessity because of the liability. Some cars have fewer blind spots and better visibility than others, but that's always been the case. If someone cannot operate a car safely without relying on a camera, they shouldn't be driving that car.
Not PP, but I wouldn't be too sure... https://www.wired.com/story/polestar-4-2023-reveal/
