I accidentally got a newer Federal colleague fired (or at least I suspect it).

This person - let's call them Kevin -  had been on our team for about a year and was taking a lot of time off. They were only a couple years out of college and they added me on Instagram. They would constantly post photos from fun international trips.

While eating lunch with our manager and two other colleagues, we start talking about upcoming vacations around spring break. I mention that I want to get in a West coast ski trip and stated that I should probably hit up Kevin for some advice, as the pics from his recent ski trip looked awesome.

My manager made a weird face and then discreetly asked me to stop by their office after lunch. They asked me a bunch of questions about Kevin's ski trip and what I know about their past travels. I answered honestly, showed my manager Kevin's IG profile.

Kevin was back for a week and then basically disappeared without notice from our office. Radio silent, disappeared from social media. Like they didn't even exist.

Turns out that Kevin was milking sick leave and then short-term disability and using it to travel. They were still on two year probation (excepted service) and got the boot. [/quote]
