I don't go through life expecting that everyone will love everything I do, or that everything will go smoothly. Your situation really doesn't seem to me to be out of the norm. I certainly don't think I am entitled to automatic love and devotion from my in-laws! They just need to be courteous, and keep any negative feelings to themselves.
