I don’t think Tom has ASD but he does have that personality type you often see in addicts. Very charismatic but takes things to extremes — often when an addict gets off the booze, they go full in on something like religion, exercise, diet, etc. some people just like living in an extreme version. He seems to be that way with both work and Scientology. But I think everyone realizes he didn’t abandon Suri— Katie rescued her. And I would bet that the divorce decree traded an iron clad NDA for Katie for her getting 100% control over Suri with very limited access for him. After what he did to Nicole w/r/t the kid, she knew there was no such thing as shared custody. Suri just turned 18, I think, so I’m wondering if/when either she or Katie will speak out about all this. Eventually one or the other will likely say something. It’s always been a little weird to me that Nicole doesn’t say more.
Nicole has never said more so she could leave the door open to have a relationship with her children.
She basically abandoned them though, right? Haven’t the kids spoken out and said something to that effect? I understand her needing to get away from Tom, but I don’t ever think I’ll understand how she just left her kids with him and then created a new family with Keith Urban.
Didn’t Tom serve her with divorce papers? She was blindsided, right? And don’t you think she tried to see the kids but Tom and Scientology forbade it? That’s my recollection/assumption.
But even if Scientology / Tom forbade it, in the great state of California, there’s something called parental rights. Even if a court wouldn’t give her joint custody (which would be very unlikely but let’s assume Scientology can influence CA state judges), she could’ve gotten visitation. Why didn’t she pursue legal options? Then again, Tom would’ve had legal options when it came to Suri too. So who knows, maybe Scientology is at the root of all this… or else Nicole just wasn’t that committed to being a mom of her two kids, and Tom just wasn’t that committed to being a dad to Suri.
Not necessarily. Visitation and custody is left to the judges who can be bias.
The most bias judge will not deny an emotionally and mentally fit mother from visitation. When Nicole walked away after Tom humiliated her with the divorce, she walked away from her adopted children. Maybe she never really bonded with them as a mother and it was easy to start over.
