Madeira girls are divided socially between boarders and day students. The day students are on the outs as the boarders feel it's more their school. Boarders have a lot of emotional issues that they bring into the classrooms.
Not true. Current parent of a day student. She has a true mix of friends that are boarders and day. As for the emotional issues you cite, that also is not true. This is a boarding school, not a home for troubled teens. Are there emotional issues at privates? Yeah, at day schools and boarding schools. Madeira probably has less mental health issues than some of the pressure cooker schools around here. And the new HOS is actively working to improve mental health (just like their peer schools). They are going to do social emotional learning activities at the end of each module next year. One of the reasons the parents wanted Ms. Kyong as HOS, because she was very interested in what could be done post CoVID to help teens feel less stressed and more grounded.
