Madeira girls are divided socially between boarders and day students. The day students are on the outs as the boarders feel it's more their school. Boarders have a lot of emotional issues that they bring into the classrooms.
What does this mean? When I was at Madeira, some of the boarding girls had parents who had divorced, but they were good students. The day/boarding divide is only as big as you make. Many day and boarding students are friends. Some of my best friends were boarders. As a day student, I enjoyed staying with them. Stone Ridge is a wonderful school as well. The Sacred Heart order has such a special calling. Their network is awesome. ( I know this from friends who went to Stone Ridge and had a positive experience.)
