WJ Parent. My DD is a 9th grader and is not in APEX but has several friends who are. Apparently the problem is being addressed and APEX Bio is being tweaked somewhat to ensure that the students are being supported in the way they need to be. Even though my DD didn't choose it, APEX has an excellent reputation and parents and students highly recommend it.
Thank you. My DD has been invited into the APEX program and the harder bio is the one aspect of the program that gives her some doubt.
Understandable. In my child’s experience Apex is worth it for the cohorted English class in grades 9 and 10. My child is not interested in bio at all. If you can, support her through Bio. Then she can leave apex after grade 10 if she doesn’t want to take the 9 APs. Also don’t take more than the one AP freshman year - AP Gov. Maybe take PE to further reduce homework- you have to take it to graduate.
Thank you for the feedback!
