My teen is typically at a friend's house whose parent is a night owl. SOOOO thankful that she will bring him home at 11p/12a. I am looong asleep.
Is there any adult awake when your child gets home? I think it's important to be awake enough to engage in a short conversation with your teen as a way to keep an eye on possible drug or alcohol use.
+1 There is an awake adult in my house until everyone is accounted for. Especially once they start driving.
This. And we also don't send our kids in Ubers.
Same for us. I want to know they’re home safely and haven’t been drinking. You’d be surprised how many kids who know their parents are sound asleep come home either drunk or high.
Sadly a lot parents know their teens are doing this and either ignore it, or even worse openly allow it. They will justify it as "everyone" is doing it and if we say our kids aren't, then we are dumb and fooled by our teens.
