I have been a McLean parent for years and the email made me extremely uncomfortable. The author is using inflammatory language (like "willingly destroying" the boys program) and complaining about club-wide emails with "so much disinformation" as though there is some kind of conspiracy here. He, or someone with his same views and tone, then further fanned the flames on the other 100-plus page thread (that I am sure is about to get locked) and peppered his messages with constant ad hominem arguments, calling any poster who disagreed dumb. I don't see a conspiracy here. MYS sent a pretty straightforward bland message to all ECNL and ECNL regional parents explaining that the push for the merger came from above because the boys program has been under-performing. How you take that email and make it into a conspiracy is beyond me. Also, I have no idea whether in a situation like this it is normal to consult the technical director. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Of course we can all understand why the technical director is upset. But on the other thread, the conspiracy posters flat-out lied and said he was fired when he is choosing not to return. There is nothing weird or conspiratorial about the merger. All of our kids have go through disappointments in childhood. I know mine have and it is painful to watch. But the reaction to this merger had been strange and alienating.
